Face The Heat

My head pounds to the rhythem of my fluttering hearbeat

As heat rushes to my cheekbones

And muscles clench together in my shoulders

I breathe in- 5,6,7 seconds

And realease- slowly, shakily

The blurred edges around my vision ebb

My legs solidify

Warmth drains from my face

I turn, and plaster on my automatic smile

I will never admit defeat
