My Backyard
I hear the coyotes howl
and run after my dog
I listen to the elk bugle
as they run into the fog
I watch the trees sway in the wind
sometimes falling down
I look for the mountain lion
I’ve never seen it’s frown
I smell the cows around me
they’re moving very slow
I see the horses running
putting on a show
I feel the temperature get colder
and the snow starts to fall
I stare at the moose in the trees
he once was very small
I laugh at all the smelly goats
eating everything in sight
I point outside at the fox
when it strides into the night
I have a backyard like no other
it’s huge and scary at night
I know it’s not like your backyard
for it may give you a fright
