American Invitational Mountain Examination
I have traveled so far
Grueling miles of technical trekking
The steepest peak before my feet
Is the necessary courage within me?
Trapped within the depths of my soul
Pleading to be unharnessed
I tentatively twist the door knob
Tenderly willing the rusty frame to give in
I take a deep breath and enjoy the moment:
A graceful dancer leaping through the air
A mere three hours later
Now mourning her loss at a sinister cemetery
My enthusiasm and passion
Supplanted with greed and lust for success
Like a vampire craving for human blood
My life forever changed
Months bringing me no closer to overcoming the pain
Will it take eternity?
