Boggled

Words flying around my head,
bouncing up and down.
Pick me! Pick me!
they shout.
Bizarre thoughts,
yet so intelligent.
I want to share,
rattle my pensive ideas off my tongue.
But would you care?
There's so many things,
up in my brain.
They're kicking and screaming,
wanting to get out,
wanting a place in the spotlight.
So, I open my mouth,
waiting for brilliant words to escape,
and impress you.
But nothing comes out,
so I settle on a measly, "yup".
Then the guys in my head start up again.
They're furiously yelling,
telling me I ruined it.
If only they'd shut up.
If only I didn't have to choose.
Those little guys - they're overwhelming.
They keep my wrapped up,
in my own little universe.
As hard as I try to escape,
they suffocate me.

And people think I'm quite.
