Sixteen

I was sitting here waiting
On my sixteenth birthday
For you to show your face
You never came and
You never even bothered
To tell wish me Happy Birthday
I was crying for days cause
I always swore that you
Would never break my heart like that

But the next time I saw you
You smiled and said, “Just look at you.”
I wanted to kiss you right then and there.
You always gave me that smile
You told me things you never
Told anyone before
And those dark, brown Southern eyes
Lookin down on me I swore you loved me
But then one day your with her
You walk right passed me
And out of my life
And I swore you
Would never break my heart like that…
