the monsters in the attic

The monsters
They wait for me
Once I fall asleep
So they can creep out of the attic
And come terrorize me.

they are sneaky and sly
Like a fox
that is hunting it’s prey
under a luminous moon
that shines down on forest like it is midday.

The monsters are my goals in life.
They swerve in and out of my dreams while I sleep.
I know I can never reach them
because I set them so high
But I will try.

My dreams are piled as high as Mt. Everest.
I try to get to the top
Then a cascade of problems hits me
that this world keeps throwing at me.
