Living Night
As I lay in my bed at night,
I watch the shadows dance on my walls
The starlight peeks through my window
Like small angels of the night
The moon gazes off into the distance,
Thinking of times of the past, present, and future
The darkness eddies and prances around my room
Like fairies that comfort and hide me
The wind whispers sweet lullabies in my ear
And shares its secrets with the trees
If I close my eyes I can hear the house creaking
With each and every noise it tells me I'm not alone
Eventually the sandman must win though
For the phantom of sleep himself is penetrating my mind
With that, my blankets and sheets swallow me up
And I succumb to sleep until the sun wakes to greet me
