Summer, the sweetest word that ever slid off your lips.
Summer, was ripening in the horizon.
Summer, was grazing my fingertips.
Summer, was just out of reach.
Summer, was taunting my taste buds.
Summer, was ready to be picked like a peach.
Summer, was falling from the orchard tree.
Summer, was slipping from my hands.
Summer, was splattering on the ground beneath my feet.
Summer, was not so sweet as it used to be.
Summer, was no longer in store for you and me.
