Your Lie
A lie can break a person,
your lie broke me.
I tried and tried,
but in the end
It was useless.
You left me in the dust,
left me when something better
came along.
Now I sit on my porch
trying to figure out why.
The wet tears stream
down my face
likes rivers that cannot be dammed.
You said forever,
and left me the next day.
My only comfort is
the pitter patter of the rain
and the wind
caressing my damp cheeks
whispering
lonely doesn’t last forever.
