Metamorphosis;
its as if one day,
you wake up and open your eyes
for the very first time.

Gone are the days of
sitting idle,
trapped,
in the encasement
of intertwined weeds;
the unkind words that sprout like
brown grass woven in between your toes.

You open your eyes
and see that the world is yours;
everything under the sun and moon,
everything under the billions of stars,
the tiny seeds of hope and wonder.

Stretch your arms wide,
glowing in the summer sun.
You, like a human butterfly,
have been through a metamorphosis.
Don’t shut your eyes,
the world is yours.
