Fake It

I am a girl,
who is confused.
In a world too big for her taste.
I am ugly.
But what is pretty?
Who decides?
Us?
Them?

I smile,
I laugh when you taunt me,
like nothing is wrong.
But behind the mask,
I am dying inside,
curling up,
with no dignity
and no faith.
Like a lost child,
crying for its mother,
hopelessly.

I hate my life,
but am willing to live,
for the sparse light of love,
that passes by soon enough,
until I am once again eaten,
by the darkness
of loneliness.

I am screaming,
to you,
my diary.
You just don’t know it.
You just don’t know me.
You don’t care.
But I love you anyway.
Its the way it has to be.
Its the way it is.
