Boat Ride

The cool air blowing through my hair
The roar of the engine as it hurtles the boat forward
Forward into shades of orange, pink, and violet
A reflection of the sun rising in the east
Each bob of the boat on the waves reminds me
Reminds me of how my grandma would rock me to sleep at night
Reminds me of the long drive through the mountains up and down each hill
Reminds me of a roller coaster at the amusement park
Each up and down movement soothing the body and mind
Until you’re lost completely in the serenity of the lake
