I walk alone
On this long journey
The path is so narrow
No room for error
Or I’ll fall off track
And be stranded
That can’t happen
I’m too far to look back
I’m bare foot and nude
As I walk through the cold
And step on the fire
The pain I can’t feel
I only feel the truth
My pain you can’t heal
Until I make it
But when I get there
By there I mean where
Where? I’m trying to be
Where? I see me
Some one won’t be fair
They’ll take what I achieved
As they took my rights
Then left me out to dry
On this lonely long journey
Not knowing how to survive
But if we all must die
I’ve already died twice
I might look alive
But they killed my
Spirit and my Pride
Fed me tear drops,
My own blood and lies
Now I’m lost in the world
This journey so long and lonely
Who will make it to the other side?
Of this booby trapped maze
That we call America
I tell you who
All but the black man
Yeah that’s right I won’t survive
If you call surviving living to disguise
The pain I’ve kept inside me
Then I’ve already died inside
And no I won’t survive
On this narrow path
That won’t end
No not me, not I
