A shady grove,
Right up the path:
a place for song and rest.
Just there,
in the distance—
a mere day's hike a way.
But the farther I walk,
through hedges and thorns,
the farther away it seems.
No rest for me,
No time to spare;
they say it's not really there.
Just kindled hope—
a shady grove,
Right up the path:
Further tomorrow than today.

Interpret this as you wish--maybe it's about the possibility of heaven, or maybe it's about the futility of life, or maybe it's just about walking in the woods.
