Her Weakness

May 28, 2011

She allowed others to get her down with the words they said,
She did not have any self-esteem to fight against the mockery,
She believed that she wasn’t worthy of anything in life,
She lied around all day feeling sorry for herself,
She hated what she saw in the mirror,
She focused on the fatty covered rolls,
She couldn’t see her natural beauty,
She tried every diet created,
She didn’t want help,
She was bulimic,
And she
Died.

I wrote this in my English class for an assignment about a social problem. I choose to do the eating disorders of teenagers and how it lead to their untimely death because I see it everyday at the school i go to. I wanted to inspire change through this poem, showing teens that they don't need to starve themselves to be excepted by their peers.
