She lies there peacefully
her eyelids are like blankets,
covering her soft blue eyes
Her curly hair,
fanning out like a gently flame.

Her skin feels smooth,
Yet cold
She's pale throughout her face
but there is a place of darkness,
a bruise lies across her nose.

She's beautiful on the outside
but even more within
She is an angel now,
with her first set of wings.

This beautiful woman,
who lies so quietly
is not a stranger to me,
She's my friend and helper
But even more,
She's my sister.

The author's comments:
I needed a way to let go of painful feelings when my sister died. I decided to write poetry about it.
