The Real Me
When I look in the mirror, what do I see?
I see what has always been inside of me.
When I close my eyes, what do I imagine?
I imagine myself being more than what I thought I could be.
I have always wanted to be like everybody else.
I wanted to change my attitude,
wear the latest fashions,
listen to the hottest music,
and be in the crowd with everybody else.
I thought that if I hung with the popular groups, everybody would love me.
I would have the most friends,
I would get chosen for everything,
and make people want to be like me.
But, I learned that the real me is what I should always be.
The real me is what matters.
The real me holds all the power.
The real me is the only me that is going to succeed.
The real me can’t destroy my life.
The real me is a leader.
The real me is the only me that can make a change.
The real me is the only me that can climb mountains.
The real me is the only me that will count in life.
The real me is what people see.
The real me is what I will always be.
The real me is the true me!
