Brother. Sort of.
Like an overgrown sapling
In your shirt so black
It’s all sky but no stars
Showing that locker who’s boss
Friday the 13th
No not the movie
You forgot your waffles
Or something
I laughed and punched you on the shoulder
Not like those things are really important
There are more important things
Your senioritis
The end is nearer than we thought.
But this end isn’t advertised on cardboard signs
On street corners
By a toothless man
It’s just the end of the school year.
Promise you won’t forget me
When you go to that big school
Across the river
Or wherever it is you’re going.
Sincerely,
Your little sister
