I am tongue tied.
My mouth hangs open,
My words are caught, my teeth won’t let them out
My eyes stare hard into yours
I know what I need to say.
My hands are holding my arms across my chest,
I am not going to lose.
I am not a loser.
My thoughts turn silent
You glare at me hard
Expecting to hear it.
The declaration of my weakness.
The story of my redemption
You. Don’t. Know. Me.
I am stronger than this
I will not take it.
My arms are constricting my chest
Breathe.
Just breathe.
