Next Chapter
Were we ever worth it?
All the struggle and all the pain
As I recall the memories
My lungs are screaming from the rain
We don’t know how we got here
We only know where we’ve been
And as I flip the pages backwards
I cut my fingers once again
You walk by me like we’re strangers
As if we have no scars to count
It’s as if it never mattered
Like you were crushing leaves without a sound
I wipe my last tear with my confused pride
Shake my head and look both ways
I will continue my journey forward and
walk down the alley of whys
Were we ever worth it?
All the heartbreak and the numb
As I ignore all the memories
And how you cut me with your tongue
We don’t know how we got here
We only know where we’ve been
And as I close the book of nothings
I am ready to start again
