the red leaves cover the ground
where we ride our bikes
up and down the street.

but is it really the ground?
Up and down the street
we ride on top of another world.
Is it really the ground

that I glimpse below.
Where we ride our bikes
could be the top of the world
that I glimpse below
through the trees.
It could be the top of the world
where we ride our bikes
through the trees
in the middle of fall.
