Little Sticky Black Tendrils
I close my eyes
And lay down my head
Lost, seeing only darkness
Wondering, screaming with a silent voice
I see a sliver of light in the distance
I walk, I run for hours
Not reaching the destination of light
Finally I reach for it
I see you in the doorway
Surrounded by light, me by darkness
You hold out your hand
With love and anticipation
I reach for it, I can’t, the darkness
Won’t let us hold each other
Light tries to fight, but it is just to strong
You look me in the eyes, your eyes are sad
And disappointed
You slowly drift away
I feel the words ‘don’t go’ on my lips
I fall, the butterflies in my stomach
Are dead, I’m on my own, in
A pit of darkness forever
I open my eyes, rapidly breathing
Heart pounding, your holding me
Saying ‘don’t worry’
‘Everything is ok’
A sign of relief washes over me
And I’m just glad you’re here.
