One Day
Do you know what it’s like when the person you most fear,
Looks back at you everyday in the mirror?
Or when the thing you hate most about yourself,
Is that you wear a mask that looks like that picture up on your parents shelf?
What would it be like if you could take just one day,
Where you didn’t have to pretend to be that perfect little ray
Of sunshine that your parents see you as.
One day to see what their reaction to the you that you are, was.
And how about a day you could be free of judgment.
Where you could face your fears without the risk of punishment.
Ah, what a day that could be.
You could finally face yourself and be free.
Free of fear and of sorrow.
No more waiting for tomorrow,
To show the world who you are.
And prove that “You” can go far.
