Respect
People wonder why they get no respect
when all they do is demand it.
They say, “It’s earned,” yet
they never earn it.
To others, they show none
and complain when those
return the favor.
They sit and judge
in their large groups
calling us idle and weird
just because we do not follow
their ways or do what they do.
Maybe they are jealous,
or perhaps just afraid
of what will happen to them
if we become the norm;
making sure they stay on top.
But how did others look at them,
before they demanded respect?
Is it a cycle that never ends,
or just a change over time
to everyone.
Why is the respect not cycled?
And only the lack of it.
