My Love and the Mighty Oak
As I walk across the wood
To where a Mighty Oak stood
I walk and weep
As the wind sweeps
Across the forest floor
As it starts to rain
All the thoughts in my brain
Turn to pain
For when you told me your lover died
I couldn’t help but go outside
And look up into the clear blue sky
That’s when I first thought
I could never top whoever
Until you said forever
I asked if you could ever love again
You said you loved me even then
When your eyes were glazed
In a far off daze
On your very worst days
When I saw you smile
For the very first time in a while
I’m sure I could have ran a mile
But I didn’t have to
Because I know I flew
To the Wood
Where a Mighty Oak stood
As I carved our names into the tree
I thought it would be cool to see
If forever was meant to be
With a final look towards the wood
Where i am sure a Mighty Oak stood
I let a tear fall from my eye
As I start to cry
As I thought of how lucky I’d be
To have you all for me
FOREVER…
