How I Fell Out of Love
You will forget me
Just like all before me
But I will never forget you.
I am not sorry.
I will not falter.
I’ve let you go
Without a second thought
And I won’t go back.
I have given up
Trying to open your eyes
What you think is irrelevant
Is all I believe in anymore.
Did you ever think
That we could keep going
Never end, like waves
Always lapping up
Without end
No
You couldn’t
You are consumed in the frills
Of elevating yourself higher
Amongst the foxes, bandits,
Backstabbers and fiends
Mistaken for friends
They will turn
Faster than you turned on me
I am the wicked witch of the west
I will be your downfall
You wanted to change me
Break me
Bring me in with sweet nothings
Cologne that smells of rain
Sweet iotas of a life I can never live
So go
Go serve my heart
On a silver platter
Poison your way to victory
With my blood
Seasoned in succulent half truths
And outright mendacities
To justify
Why it was necessary
To tear me apart.
Continue your conquest of hearts
Yours has no meaning anymore
It is fetid, no more than carrion
I wait for your sycophants
Hungry in neglect
To tear and mangle it
Until there is no difference
Between apathy and pain.
I am not sorry.
I will not falter.
I’ve let you go
Without a second thought
But I won’t forget.
