Inevitable

I am a hypocrite,
Because I believe that all living creatures are equal,
But I murder every spider to innocently cross my path.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I scrutinize discrimination,
Yet take part in it nearly every day.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I am an Atheist,
But catch myself talking to God.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I am bisexual,
And use the words f***** and g** as insults.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I am an advocate for self-harm awareness and acceptance,
Yet I throw around the title “emo” frequently.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I ridicule peoples’ unconventional interests and style,
But demand acceptance of my individual expressions.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I refuse to conform to generic typicality,
And in turn fit the mold of so many other cliché “I-am-individual” teenagers.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I do not support stereotypes,
Yet classify my peers habitually.

I am a hypocrite,
Because I am human,
And loathe hypocrisy.

The author's comments:
It is virtually impossible to avoid hypocrisy as long as you are an imperfect human being; EVERYONE is a hypocrite, and while trying our best to minimize it, perhaps we should embrace the unavoidable irony in our lives.
