Winter

A gust of wind
That sends cold chills
Down every one's back
Like roller coaster thrills
The time to cuddle
With your loved one
And enjoy resplendent life
Without the warm sun
The time when snowflakes
Paint the area white
Creating a playground
So perfect and right
You know it's here
Because night arrives early
The days are shorter
And swift darkness will surely
Become frightening for some
And exciting for others
Until time is reversed
With the coming of Summer
A season so bold,
Individual, and sincere
That it can't be confused
With any other time of the year
The decrease of animals
Squirrels and birds
Hibernating and migrating
Barely even remembered
Hardly ever thought of
Their presence, not felt
Until ice meets the sun
And slowly melts
But now we watch
As the trees start to wither
With the obvious coming
Of peaceful winter
