I Asked

I asked the grass why it was brown
And it sprang up to show its green
I asked the sun why it shinned so bright
And it sighed and hid behind the mountains and clouds
I asked the snow why it fell
And it ceased and spring shown through
I asked the flowers why they wouldn’t bloom
And the buds on the roses began to open
I asked myself why spring couldn’t hurry faster
And the Earth warmed
And the trees sang
And all was perfect
