Looking In The Mirror
Looking in the mirror,
Seeing a girl I don’t know
Knowing it is myself,
Not finding any resemblance
Nothing to who I think I am
Looking in the mirror
I see her dark earthy hair
Her storm green eyes
Every contour of her body
I see every scar she has
Looking in the mirror
I see her lightly tanned skin
Skin, plagued with imperfections
Imperfections she is judged upon
I see the fear, shame, regret she hides
Looking in the mirror
I see this girl looking back
But she is not a random girl anymore
She is me, she is myself, she is I
I know her, she knows me
Looking in the mirror
I know I am not a girl anymore
I am a woman, grown up enough
No one can change that, no one can change me
Looking in the mirror, I finally see myself.
