Working by Candle-Light

On the old lounge chair I sit
Looking at the tired gray sky
There's nothing to do (for the power's out)
I turn & look at an old doll
Serene-faced, calm
I find a single match, a single candle
& strike the match thrice
I put it on my desk
Where the battered notebook lays
I write, then--
A surge
The lights & stereo are on again
But I turn everything off
And work by candle-light
