Nothing Here...Nothing There

The tree branches
On a cold winter night
The snow
Squished under feet
The harsh wind
Whispering in my ear

The burning fire
Destroyed everything in its path
The hatred
The words
The actions
The lyrics
The hatred

What more is there?
What more can I do?
All my energy is gone
My heartache cannot be cured

The long nights
When the tears fall silently
The freezing days
When there is no warmth to be found
The roads
That stretch for miles and bring no home
No home; no comfort
No life; no sympathy
No energy
Nothing left to hold on to
Nothing left for me here
