The Dark

Dark
The dark is solitude
The dark is wet and sad
The dark is silent
But silence itself can be so loud
You close your eyes to see the darkness
It is a forgotten paradise
The dark pushes you away
The dark is cold
The cold makes you shiver, leaving you feeling unsafe
This feeling leaves you shaky and scared
Giving you the adrenaline rush you crave
But when it’s over and the dark is just the dark…
You open your eyes and realize the light is better
The light is warm
The light is comfortable and sweet
The light holds you in its arms and cradles you
It sings you good morning lullabies
The light smiles
The light is loud and happy
The light loves you
The dark does not…

This is really good. My favourite lines are "But silence itself can be so loud" and "You close your eyes to see the darkness" because I think that they're great oxymorons and very well used in this poem. Well done!
