The beach plays in the sun from dawn to dusk.
Its grains of sand bronze and heat up as the day goes on.
The ocean’s salty water cools it down with every crash along the shore,
Helping it withstand the heat of the boiling sun.

Lawn chairs and large, obnoxiously, colored beach umbrellas dig deep into its skin
And different sizes of footprints tattoo its sandy golden exterior.

Its friends come and go as they please time after time.
The seagull sleeps just above the beach underneath the dark and noisy pier,
While the crabs dream the night away cuddling with the sand
Like a child snuggling with its soft fleece blanket.

The beach is a great friend to have,
One that always listens to someone’s problems,
One that will never talk back or disagree,
One that always seems to help wash away life’s obstacles,
And one that never seems to have any problems of its own.

As the sun rolls down and hides away for the night
Children become sad and their eyes glassy with tears,
Knowing that the day filled with swimming, playing, and laughing is coming to an end.
But the beach tries to help make everything better,
Displaying one of the best sunset it has ever performed.

People watch in awe as the beach tries to entertain them one last time for the day.
The sun just peaks over the waters horizon,
Having the color of pink, yellow, and orange
Burst through the night clouds.
But the sun can only stay for so long before saying goodnight
And the beach can only do so much to have the people stay for a little longer.

Once the sun is set, people pack up their chairs and umbrellas,
Leaving cuts in the beach’s heart as they rip them out of the sand.
As they all head towards the parking lot
It waves goodbye with the soft white caps crashing against the shore.

It looks up into the starry sky alone at last, dreaming of what waits tomorrow,
Waiting in anticipation for what joys the next day may bring.

The beach knows that it could never be happy
Without the daily visitors in its life.
But what it doesn’t know is that secretly
We could never be happy without the beach in our lives as well.
Bringing families closer and creating memories to last a lifetime,
It should be commended for its exceptional effects on us all.
