Someday
I hope someday
This skin will be permanently bronzed
From the countless hours we have spent in the sun
I hope someday
These feet will be tough
From the incalculable miles we have run together
I hope that someday
These eyes will happily close
Knowing that together we have seen this crazy world
I hope someday
This mind will be calm
Because you have taught it there was really never anything to fear
And I most of all I hope someday
When the skin has bronzed
And the feet have grown tough
And the eyes have closed
And the mind has stopped
That we will know
Pure ecstasy
And that we will look at each other laughing
As though we have just recalled
An inside joke, existing only in our world:
The world of someday
