the rainfall adds a sensory touch

to the world in which

you are already immersed

a universe that is in no way

parallel

to the reality that you've escaped

it is a new existence

delivered by phrases

word by word

painting a map

across your mind’s canvas

you have surrendered yourself

to imagination’s purpose

of cutting any tethers

you might have

to actuality

the leather hardback

seems to melt in your hand

you are no longer grasping

paper, but the world

which the pages create

a new domain

for your exploration

all in a day’s work

in the library

on a rainy sunday
