Journey

The crisp night air kisses my cheeks.
I feel your hands gently push my hair
Out of my face; revealing my emotions.
It has been long since I’ve seen you last.
Cracking a smile of satisfaction,
You lead me. Hand in hand,
We’re on toward our new chapter of a new journey.
The world is a cruel place, and timing isn’t our thing.
But I’ve got a new factor on my side;
It’s you. Always has been, and always will be.
You’re my nightlight and baby blanket.
Come now be my other half.
The street-lights are flickering on and off,
Giving my heart the signal of separation.
Separating dark from light, day from night.
Finally it’s just the status of you and I.
Once again, but not permanent;
I’ll see you soon then, I hope.

Seeing my long distance boyfriend for the last night before he has to leave again brings a rush of emotions. You never know if things will work out and by the time he's home again if you'll still be together.
