I miss the old you.
You're not the same
Not like the person
I grew to love.
You were my best friend,
So why'd you have to go ruin that
And change yourself completely?
We all saw it coming
To tell you the truth
But now you've gone
And messed up your youth.
So you're probably addicted
And can't get enough.
You probably thought doing that
Would make you seem tough.
But that doesn't make sense,
And you still screwed it up.
I miss hanging out with you,
You were always so fun,
But now it's like you
Just said you were done.
Did you think there would be no consequences?
Did you think we'd just move on?
Or did you think we'd just forget your mistakes -
Go back to how it was back then?
No.
Instead, you're gone -
And just out of my life.
I just didn't want you then.
You used to be so innocent,
And now you're just a mess.
From boy to boy
From party to party
How can this be what you want?
I'm sorry for how hurtful this might be,
If you're reading this now.
I've always wanted to tell you this,
I just never knew how.
To tell you how I really felt
Would take up all my strength.
I'm not that strong
And I'm not that blunt
But these things just need to be said.
And honestly, if you keep this stuff up
You could end up really hurt
Or dead.
I'm sorry but that's the awful truth,
I'm just warning you ahead.
So be careful out there,
And please try to stop -
For me and for everyone else.
I'm just being honest,
And the truth is,
I miss the old you.
And so does everyone else.

This is written about my friend who chose drugs and alcohol over our group of friends.
