Never Again

She tried something new,
Something that changed her.
She'll never again be the person I knew,
I wish I could have saved her.

The author's comments:
i wrote this as a freshman in high school. In the eighth grade, one of my close friends, who I'd been friends with since fifth grade, started to make bad decisions. She started drinking and smoking all the time, and by her freshman year, she'd slept with over ten different boys, none of whom she'd been dating at the time. Our entire group of friends stopped being friends with her until I confronted her with this poem, and now we're friends again and she's changed.
