Survived
They say things like “daddy’s little girl”
To be his girl, I’d guess daddy should be part of the equation
Like 2+2x3+6/1=18
I spent 18 years in hopes to experience
This touch of love
At home’s no different
The fights and broken promises
Like 1+2+3/2=3
Age 3 was the last time I heard “good job honey, I’m proud of you”
I’ll be strong, stronger than any hurricane
I’ve grown up faster than any flower can sprout
I’ll live more years than you can count
On fingers and toes
Without you
Because I was never his little girl or her little helper
I’ve learned my ABC’s
Counted my 1, 2, 3’s
I’ve lived a grand life and there was no you and I
I survived.
