Orange Soda
The cold touch surprises me.
My hand is temporarily numb.
Water from the cooler rests on the can
and runs down to my hand.
The metallic click of the flip tab
rings in my ears.
The fizz starts to bubble.
As the metal touches my lips, it cools me
letting the heat of the bonfire disappear .
The bright orange liquid contacts my tongue.
And my mouth comes alive.
The fizz and bubble are too strong for me,
and my face puckers.
But I love that part especially.
People ask why I drink the fizzy and bubbly goodness.
And I tell them it makes me want more.
The color attracts me,
and I gladly give in.
One sip is not enough,
so I drink it all.
And I wonder what to do next,
so I grab another can.
