There's nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and open a vein. --Walter Wellesley

I remember the summer
Sunny
Fragrant
Simple
Happy.

I fell in love with the smell of lilac blossoms
I fell in love with the smell
With the breeze
And the sunlight.

It was simple. Easy. Natural.
I knew who I was.
I was happy, though I never gave it
Much thought.

My room
Now
Smells almost like the summer
Because the candle I lit, small and purple
Smells like lilacs.

Almost.
It almost smells like happiness
Like friendship
Like hope
For the future.

It almost
Smells like home.

Almost.
