I saw him the other day
That boy I see everyday
But yesterday he saw me back
And it gave me the chills

He looked at me when I walked by
And opened his mouth
But I kept walking
I hated seeing him
Hated most that I had ever saw him
In the first place

A couple of girls told me
He’s moving to Georgia this summer
It doesn’t bother me
Like they had hoped
I know about you two
They said finally one day
He told us
I can’t believe you would ever
They laughed, flipped their hair and walked away
As if two people were chess pieces

I’d like to convince myself it never happened
That really good thing
Like to think it was really bad instead

Today though
He smiled at me
And it made me freeze

My heart exploded
Exploded cherry coke
And sunscreen
And heart shaped necklaces
And shoes hanging from telephone wires
It exploded in his face
And the smile crept away

And he remembered
Because I remembered
I had actually
For real
OMG no way
Yes way
That kid
In the blue jacket

I wonder if there will be another tree in Georgia
With our initials carved into it
