Green Grass
It happens every year
At this time
The birds sing again
The trees grow their leaves
We can walk around bare foot
I would run out the door
Each spring
My shoes left behind
The warm sun shining down,
Brightening the sky
And heating up the earth
Whether I’m at the beach
In my home
Or on sun baked pavement
Maybe that’s why
I love spring
Every year after the snow melts
And the wild flowers bloom
I kick off my winter boots
And once again enjoy
The feel of spring’s
New green grass
Against my bare feet
