This is a love that equals in its power the love of a man for woman and reaches inwards as deeply. It is the love of a man or of a woman for their world. For the world of their centre where their lives burn genuinely and with a free flame.

A slow trail of thick green leaves
Crawls thickly up the pale, pink life
Slowly, stealing, dripping lines
Red, like fire, thorns like a knife

Goodbye to the wind I say now
Goodbye to the fire I'm told
Buds growing, silently they vow
Thorns sinking deeper, taking hold

Eyes losing colour in their hope
Silent resolution, decide
Decide to forget how to cope
Decide to remember to hide

Starlight hiding the sun inside
Cold light shining bright on my face
Thin pricks of pain like when you lied
Green vines growing in their slow race

The dark leaves, surrounding my head
Thorns bearing faces, friends like foes
Strangling vines, heavy like lead
Softly turning into a rose
