The Hole In My Heart

By , Walpole, MA
You smile at me.
It gets a little smaller.
You smile and laugh,
I hear the fakeness.
It grows big again.
Your voice breaks
Your tears fall.
It grows.
Your hope fails you.
You hand reaches out
It gets so large; I swear it’ll swallow me whole
Your hand holds the razor
I flinch as you hurt yourself
And the pain grows
As does the hole in my heart.
