I am a Bungee Jumper

Start at the top, don’t look down.
There is no comfort in the far away ground.
Stop and stare at the fall you will take.
Maybe this won’t be a piece of cake.
You take one foot off, and then two.
Now you have no idea what to do.
As you reach the bottom you feel so alone.
You shiver and shake inside each and every bone.
The wind brushes your face, and you take a breath in.
The journey back up is soon to begin.
You come up and see the sunshine above.
This is the view you knew you would love.
Maybe the jump was worth it, after all.
Besides, it’s the journey that counts, not the fall.

The author's comments:
My inspiration for this piece was just the risk of bungee jumping. It seems so freeing and incredible.
