The Fury that Ceased in Peace
Fighting, arguing, the harsh words being thrown at each other,
That made me cringe, bringing flashbacks of the suffering and pain I’ve endured,
When I was determined to help my father through the conflict between my stepmother and him.
My father enraged, in a depressed state of mind, the agony that he experienced,
The alcohol that began to dissolve him
When the woman he loved most in the world left.
I asked myself, what ignited this fury…
Innocently, I never thought they would drift apart
But crucial for me to support my withering father.
The day those horrible words were spoken clutches my memory with an unshakeable grasp.
I never want to look back.
Today, I see my father blissfully living with the woman he loves most.
The woman that came back,
The fight that was resolved and ended in peace.
But still, today, what ignited the fury remains an enigma to me,
Nevertheless, I’m glad that this was just a fury that ceased in peace.
