Cathedral
The cathedral walls housed many people,
the priests, the monks, the nuns, the lost.
Cathedral seats left from crowning kings,
old houses of prayer, housing hope.
Housing God to all who sought him,
now empty of their purpose.
Monuments to human success,
empty of prayer.
What if they should come back to their full purpose,
the prayer, the hope,
would our souls heal,
with our gracious, blessed hope,
in these old houses of God?
