What Do You See? (This Is Me)
When you look at me,
What do you see?
A little girl who is so carefree
Or a young woman with shattered dreams?
When you look at me
Can you tell that I’m hurting inside?
That I can’t trust and think everything’s a lie?
Daddy, what do you see?
When you look at me
Can you recognize the hate in my eyes?
It’s there every time you send me to my room where I silently cry.
The question is: Do you see?
When you look at me,
Do you see the person you want me to be?
No, you see everything you don’t want to see
When you look at me.
I’m telling you now…
I’m not changing for you or for anybody.
Because, even though you don’t like what you see,
This is me.
